Default Not sure what happened

Ok so I have a 1998 avenger we had gotten from a neighbor.... It had been sitting since 2012 when we 1st tried to start it, it wouldn't start figured out it was the fuel pump.... We replaced the pump and it fired right up... We brought it home let it run for about 30 mins and then we left for a family outing we were gone for about 4 to 5 hours came home tried to start it and it wouldn't start it turns over but will not start... It makes a sound at the motor like metal is hitting something.... And also the pistons looked as if they were drenched.... Pull the dip stick out and you can smell stale gas.... Not super strong but you can smell it... I'm not sure if it's the regulator on the new pump that kept pushing fuel or what.... We thought maybe it had jumped timing but the belt looks fine and it doesnt look like any teeth are missing.... Soooooo were not sure what to do next can someone please help??????? TIA

Should have changed the oil before driving it. Start by changing all the fluids and giving it a tune up.
