Default Performance Rebuilt 2.5L VERSUS Performance Rebuilt 3.0L (6G72)

Which would be better in YOUR opinion? And state your reason(s)... This is something I have been thinking about for a while and i'd like to know which is the best all around deal. Which can put out the most HP/torque, the cheapest, more upgradeable, ect, ect...

THANKS!

That is really up to you. According to Steve Martinez of Exile Racing, the 2.5L is better for higher boost because the chamber walls are thicker than the 3.0L, that's obvious of course since it's the same motor but bored out .5L
Which is cheaper? Well, considering you'll have to pay for a 3.0L swap and then rebuild it, while with the 2.5L all you'll have to have done is a rebuild...I would say the 2.5 rebuild would be less money.
If you read the ExileRacing site or the 3.0L swap I have in the FAQ, you'll see it's not a difficult DIY project either, just time consuming. Also know that the entire 6g72 motor does not go into our engine bay, refer to the swap in the FAQ and see what's involved.
The 3.0L does have more torque, but the big question is, what are your goals with your car?

My MAIN goal (for now) is to make it as fast as i can. Something with VERY good acceleration.

Does that goal include a turbo or you hoping for an all motor HP. Which btw, is a lot of money for a little more HP out of our N/A motors.

Hey. I too am interested in a nice turbo upgrade and a tranny of course i was wondering about the boost i could put out on a rebuilt 2.5 i like the motor it just isnt quick enough. i was wondering what can you pump out of a 2.5 rebuild with a nice boosted turbo what kinda numbers do you think it would make? and would it be a good daily driver??? thanx

How much we talking for one of these rebuilds. I know what it consists of but I want a price range. Also I was just planning to rebulid the Block and do the heads later will that be a problem?

i was just told by my engine builder that you can get almost as much HP out of the 2.5 as the 3.0. i think im going to rebuild my 2.5 (this guy sponsers me and i can get it done dirt cheap so im gonna go with his idea and shoot it up with nitrous). if im not happy with the end result ill go back and try a differant route. he also says that since you can only get the 3.0 in newer cars you can save alot of trouble rebuilding because the computers dont like the switch.

I agree with building the 2.5L. I don't agree with only the newer cars having the 3.0 and the computer comment though. You can get the 3.0 out of 2000+ cars (is that what he meant by newer?) and the 2.5L ECU will run it just fine.
