Default Steering column shift lever

I have an automatic transmission, with a steering column shift lever. My pointer will not go beyond 2. It will not go into 1. I usually never go past 2 ,but someday I may want to go into 1. Any ideas? Cannot move it past 2. Transmission is fine. 1994 Dodge Dakota SLT 4x4. Is there an adjustment for pointer location,in the instrument cluster bezel? My pointer is at 2 as far as it will go.Will not move into 1.I think maybe I have to much play in the lever,or maybe the collar is broken in the sterring column. It goes into drive and 2 ok,but cannot move into 1. Is there an adjustment of where the pointer in the instrument bezel should go ? It may not be lined up right. I notice a little play when it stops in 2,and when you move into 1 the pointer stays in 2. Tranmission doesn't even gear down into 1.

Anyone know where the shift indicator cable is and how to repair or replace it?

Just found out the parts are obsolete. At least I can still drive it ,except not in 1. Everything else works ok.

It's under the plastic cover that covers the steering Column. Just a dinky little wire
