Check Engine Codes 17 & 37
 

My check engine light came on today and it gave several codes. The two I'm not sure abouot are 17 and 37. 17= Closed loop temp not reached or engine cold too long. Its not very cold outside, and the only info I can give is that I have a 180 deg thermostat in it (but a lot of ya'll do too). 37= Torque converter clutch soleniod CKT or park/neutral switch failure. All I can say about that is that I had the transmission out of it about a month ago to do some work, but the torque converter locks like it should.

Has anyone else gotten this code before? Any info would be appreciated.

It may be the thermostat sticking open causing the engine to not get up to correct temp. But I mostly was running into this problem when I was useing the 160 deg thermo. But with 180 I belive I have seen it once or twice. Its fine as long as it doesnt happen every day.

The 37 Im guessing a loose wire or bad connection. Have you tried resetting to see if they come back up.

Can someone tell me what the park/neutral switch does. I have decided that there is nothing wrong with the converter clutch solenoid, so I'm now wondering if theres anything wrong with park/neutral switch... but I'm not sure what it does.

In park or neutral it will alow you to start the truck. It keeps you from starting in gear. If your having problems starting in park this is the usual culprit. It also gives your reverse lights.

Well then that's not it cause it's been starting fine in both. My best guess is that it was just a glitch, so I'll just reset it and see if they come back.
