whats a good cam for my 5.2
 
truck really moves now but I want that muscle car sound,lopy idle,anyone know a good cam I can use?and the largest I can use with the stock heads and springs?

Check summitracing for the comp cams "Thumpr" series cams. They are supposed to give you the sound you're looking for.

Chances are you will need mopar performance valve springs for that cam. But you'll also need a new torque converter with at least a 2000 rpm stall rating if not higher for that powerband. A powerband that starts at 2000 rpm IMO is high for a truck. You should look for one with more low end power.

what cam would you sugest that will still give the rough idle and work with the stock converter?

You will still need new valve springs, but they should work with the stock converter and give you more low end power.

IMHO, the best cam for a "LA" small block MoPar is the infamous "Purple Shaft" street HEMI grind from MoPar Performance.

on the subject of cams... i noticed the magnums and the la's have different cam options, and the magnums are specified for use with a computer... is there actually a difference? the only thing that would come to mind is the distributor, but since the mags have distributors and not coil packs i can't figure what would be different.
