Who's working on AC?
Question, since it is getting warmer out here and I think some people were doing some AC work on their trucks. When you change out your compressors, are you also flushing the system before recharging? Anything special you do or just throw some refrigerant back in and call it a day?

I put a new motor in and in the process put my old ac pump on new motor because I knew it worked. I dont have any intentions of flushing the system. Just going to hook it back up, vacume, and re-charge.

Was trouble-shooting why I wasn't getting cold air. Got no pressure in the lines, so I figured I needed a recharge. Then, I happen to grab one of the A/C hoses that go to the condenser - and theres no condenser. :mad: The PO cut it and ripped it off. Why? Is there a way to replace it? Im not sure how all that stuff works, it looks like the lines are not replaceable, like they're all 1 unit. Help? :confused:

I replaced my compressor (and accumulator, the thing by the firewall, as well as the fixed orifice tube), and all I did was deplete pressure on the system, replace the components, and did a vacuum test, and recharged. I think I added too much oil to the system because pressure is great, but cold output isn't good.
There should be a way to replace the lines, but you'll probably have to have the disconnect tools, which auto parts have. |

There are special disconnect tools for the ac lines. I got mine from o'rielies (Sp?) and it was like $20. its a plastic kit with like 6 different sizes and I have found that they also for on 90's ford/merc.
