an update on my markIII

so when i bought my truck on April 1st, i wasn't expecting to fall in love with it. my intentions were a daily driver that i can haul my dirt bike around in. well, wow i was wrong.

aside from transfering over my sound system and DVD/touch screen indash, i have tinted the windows and then one day at work my passenger window decided to just shatter while i was eating lunch. so i left work early that day and sourced another one from a local junkyard for 50$. put it in that night, got that window re-tinted the following day.

i took off the emblems, moldings, rain visors(one of them was broken), removed bug shield off the hood. i also decided i'd sand down all the semi-deep scratches and nicks and hand buff the sanded areas. i was pretty happy with the "quick fix" i plan to wet-sand the whole truck with 1500 then 2500, then use a buffer and get a "new paint job look"

i painted the wood grain plastic dash gloss black, still have to paint the wood "mood-light" piece on the ceiling. i also painted my windshield wiper arms matte black, along with my side mirrors. i'm contemplating on painted the top of the bed matte black because there's quite a few deep scratches and the truck was in a rear accident at some point prior to me owning it, and the bed on the truck came off a red dakota so there's red showing on the top because of the scratches. (i'd like some input on everyones opinion)

maintenance wise i have done 2 oil changes, seafoam through gas tank, replaced rear wheel cylinder on each side, new tires, changed fluid in rear diff, and replaced the blower motor resistor.

being how i'm expecting a baby christmas eve, and getting married july 8th, idk how much performance mods i'll be able to get, mainly because i already have 6k in mods invested in my 300zx. ;)

but i definetly plan on painting my wheels either a gunmetal, or matte black. not too sure yet.

i will post pictures tomorrow when i get some new ones. but i must say, this form has a ton of info, just wish people were more active with picture posting.

here's some pictures, dont mind the fact that she's quite dirty because of the rain and being on a construction site 5 days a week!

oh, and i forgot i painted my antenna matte black also. i'm going to be painting my rear bumper and front bumper matte black, along with front lip and grille.

Nice! I would say leave the bumpers chrome. I'm not that big fan of chrome but just the bumpers and grill to me is enough. Since you took off the black rubber trim there is nothing to complement the black bumpers. I say get some clear turns and corner lights and it will give you a nice clean look all around. You also need to post up a long shot too.

You sound like you like to paint, your truck does look pretty good though and good luck with your marrage man

i'm not a fan of "flashy" things, at all. being how my windows are tinted i figured i'd be able to pull off black mirrors, and being how i have them black now i'm thinking i can pull off black bumpers. i plan to get a roll pan for the rear, and that will be paint matched, but until then i can't deal with the chrome.

and yes, i love painting. haha and thank you for the good luck wishes.

ok well i am back from my little honeymoon get-away.

i'll take more pictures of my truck tomorrow after work and i give her a bath.

so browsing today on the forum i found a picture of a gen1 with a gen2 lower valance added to the front bumper, and i think i'm going to be sourcing one and tackling the job.
