I just put a set of 31's on my 90 Dakota sport and they did good in the little snow we got down here but I dont know about a big snow like yall get. Do you have you T-bars tightened up or anything or is that just the stock ride height?

I have the Dakota sport model which is usually lifted higher than the SLT Dakotas, but I think I can go 1 inch higher. How much height do I need to fit 31s?
I have the 90 sport 4x4. I was just wondering cause yours looked a little higher than mine. It may just be the pic though. I have 31's on mine now, but they rub a little. With your t-bars tightened you can fit them with no rubbin'. Mine is still stock height right now though.
It is all about keeping your tread above 6/32" in the winter and the rubber compounds used. Tire width isn't as much importance. You can go real wide and not gain anything by it. The way the vehicle is setup on camber, and tire pressure, affect tire contact on the road.
I suggest factory recommended tires, or one size up, and buy snow tires if your having issues with traction.

I searched tirerack.com and they showed all the factory tire sizes for a 93 Dakota. As you can see below 31s are listed in which it must be good enough for our trucks. After reading everyone's reply's and researching tires I see that the most important thing about buying tires no matter how big the size is choosing a tire with high rated traction or all terrains.

I have a 95 SLT with 31s on it at the stock height and they dont rub at all unless I'm reversing while turning sharply. I dont even think theyve rubbed while I was offroading a bit. But I do wanna tighten the torsion bars a little, but I'm not sure how, guys...

If you follow the bar back from the control arm to the frame you'll see it has a cam-shaped anchor on the back end. There is 1 bolt in each of the two anchors. If you tighten that bolt, it will tighten the bar and the truck will raise up, if you loosen the bolt, it will loosen the bar and the truck will lower down.
The bolt takes a 15/16 socket. Make sure both sides end up at the same height and drive it for a few days before you get it aligned to make sure they don't settle. FWIW, turning each bolt equally will not neccessarily keep the truck level... you'll have to actually measure it.
