So I'm thinking of a solid axle.
I am wondering if anyone has good pictures of SA steering setups.
Also since I am designing the thing, I need to know a little about shock mounts Should the mount be set so that when the vehicle is sitting on it's weight, the shock is in the middle of it's travel? I am thinking leafs for suspension since they are plentiful and cheap and will yield the performance I want. To that end I am also wondering if anyone has weighed the front of their truck (this will help with knowing how much the spring will adjust with weight on it.) Thanks, brihno |
There are several links to SAS's in the FAQ2 in this section, with TONS of pics and info.

yep read through them all.
you cannot really see anything about shock travel (that I noticed) in them. or frontend weight. I can just go to the local truck scale and see that, but I thought if anyone already knew it would save me some trouble. and the pictures of steering setups are either not complete or not very close up to see them in most cases. |
My truck is 4500 with me in it (I'm 180) and a 3/4 tank of gas. 2700lbs front axle and 1800lbs rear axle. Take all the tools, turbo stuff and me out of the truck and it's around 4100lbs.

cool thanks Hahns5.2!
Edit: for anyone who cares here is a link to a pretty decent suspension article that talks about shock length and placement in a little detail (not a ton of detail but enough to be interesting) http://www.4wdandsportutility.com/te...ics/index.html |
