Just ordered lift for my Dak!
I finally got around to ordering a lift. I did my research and decided to go with the 2in block and lift keys from totalperformanceonline.com. I cant wait to install it. I will for sure get pics when its all said and done. Hopefully my alignment wont be too off :icon_doh:
Heres a link to the kit I bought - http://www.totalperformanceonline.co...21/30/100-14-2 Should work well along with my skyjacker shocks |
same exact setup... skyjackers all the way around... When I tried to lift it to the max in the front my truck was literally bouncing cause my arms were maxed out. I dropped it down a little until problem was gone, now it sits 1 inch or so higher than back. LOVE IT :icon_headbang:

Cool! Ya post up pics. Also do some before and after measurements.
|
The website says installation should take between 3-4 hours, is that true? The kit honestly doesn't look like much
|
Start spraying your bolts today with penetrating oil and do it once a day until you do the install. Then, if all goes well... that sounds like a good time estimate.
|
It took me about 1.5-2.5 hrs but I was in a shop where my friends and I do this stuff all the time.... can't remember, but the keys are the hardest part.... and YES PLEASE SPRAY YOUR FACTORY BOLTS NOW, lets just say I didn't... and it took me longer.
|
How far off should I expect my alignment to be once the keys are installed?
|
well, It really all depends on how high you go... if you go up 3 inches like I did at first, you'll hate it and need alignment soon. If you go about an inch higher in the front than the back, you'll probably be ok but your tires will wearout quicker.
|
Lift came in the mail yesterday, installation begins today. I'll let you guys know how it goes. Hopefully I can get it done in the time I have today in shop class (about 3 hours).
|
PIctures pictures pictures. Before during and after. Plus measurements.... dont forget before measurements!

Got it all installed today. Pics tomorrow. I'm happy with the results BUT I think something is a little off on my truck. The truck sits level but the bump stop on the drivers side is crushed while on the passenger side its barely touching. Should I be worried? It drives fine, alignment is great, and the truck sits level with the two inch blocks in back. Can someone explain why the bump stops are the way they are?
|
well, NOT TRYING to make you feel dumb... did you maybe grab the wrong key to install on one side? cause mine was at bump stop on one side and about a cm from it on the other when completely level from side to side. If you had one reindexed key on there and one stock it would be the situation you have. Did you check to see if the reindexed keys were both reindexed the same?
|
Both keys were re-indexed. I kinda noticed something was up when I was looking at the stock keys before I took them off - the drivers side was cranked almost all the way up while the passengers side was about in the middle BUT the truck sat level..... is something bent or worn out?
|
Way to go on the install! Now here we are.... its tomorrow.... and we want pics! :D :D
sacked out or weak tie-rod on one side? |
I'll get pics tonight, I'm currently at school haha.
I'm going to throw my truck on one of our schools lifts today and take a look at the bump stops and see what the issue is. While its on the lift I'll replace the Diff fluid in front and back, along with all the rear axel seals(coated my rear brakes with Diff fluid, not good haha). |

Sorry for takin forever with the pics, yesterday was pretty busy. I'm going to put my camera in my truck so I remember to take a pic when I get home when the sun is still out haha. Oh btw, how do I post pics? I could never figure that part out.....

I have a photobucket account and upload all my photos there. From there, you can "Copy Image Location" and insert it in here using the little yellow "mountain" button in the reply box. You can also "attach" images from your computer in the "Go Advanced" section of the quick reply at the bottom of the page, but you can not upload many or large files in there.

Nice reminds me of my old truck! Color match the black trim and it will totally change the way the truck looks!
|
I plan on doing body work this summer if I still have the truck..... But I have a nasty urge to buy a mustang..... we shall see......

UPDATE- I took my truck and did a little wheeling this weekend, suspension was a bit stiff but did its job.
All in all I give the kit an 8/10. Installation was pretty easy, gave the truck a great look, very affordable, but gives a pretty stiff ride. I recently got a job at a Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep dealership too so I think I'm going to look into a cummins eventually. |

The t bar science thread is about information, where do you see any arguing there? Why not respond there instead of in other threads? I've been driving my dakota with t bars tweaked for many years, the only stiffer ride is because of the higher spring rate t bars I installed. |
