Default 92 dakota cranks but no spark

I have a 92 dakota with the 5.2 V8. I can turn it over but I have no spark out of the coil. I tried swapping out the ASD relay for another one (it was not a known good one) and it hasnt made a difference. I will try and get a known good relay, will any relay work? I was also told to check the CPS but I have no idea where it is located and how to test it. Any other place to look would be great thanks.

One thing I am curious about is that on the passenger side of the engine bay there is a 3 prong plug right above the valve cover. It is fairly clean like something was recently hooked into it. I just picked this up a couple weeks ago from a freind. They had it kind of sold to another guy but he never paid them and they didnt hear a word from him in over 2 months (still havnt). They said he was out messing with it when he came to check it out, he did take the coil so I had to get a new one, is whatever suppose to be in the plug a problem.

Here is a pic of it

no spark is either cam sensor, crank sensor, or coil, if you have a new coil i would make sure the cam and crank are plugged it. the passangers would normally be the crank sensor. but check and see if the cam in plugged in. its normally comes out of the bottom is the distrubtor. also you can test the negitive side of the coil plug and see if it flashes. if so the crank is good. if not i would start there.

Alright I will go check that, just use a 12v test light? Any clue on where that plug in belongs? You may have said it but I can't find it in what you said.

A green/orange wire coming out of the coil has a constant ground, and 6 wires go into one green/orange wire and run into the computer. I cannot get anything out of the black and white wire that goes into the coil so I assume that it is the hot wire.

There is no form of 12v power coming into the ASD relay EXCEPT two pins. One I am assuming is to energize the relay and the other is the power that is being switched by the relay.

Aslo got a couple pluggins that have no home.

Bottom one is 3 prong and top one is 6 slotted with only 4 usable prongs

The large plug is the OBD1 diagnostic port. It is fine.
The 2nd looks like maybe the crankshaft position sensor wire. The sensor is in between the transmission and engine on the bell housing. See if that wire off of the sensor goes anywhere.

I believe I located the crank and cam sensors. One is about an inch away from the distributer goin straight down into the motor on the passenger side of the distributer. The other is down on the bell housing with a 3 prong plug identical to the one in my picture above. The only difference is the alighnment notches in the pluggins.

The pluggin on what I believe to be the cam sensor is 2 wires. When I energize one of the prongs with 12v there is 12v at a 3rd prong on the relay and there is 12v at that prong even with the 12v test lead I used unhooked. There is 12v at that prong until the multimeter is unhooked, when it is rehooked there is no power until I reenergize one of the prongs at what I believe to be the cam sensor.

Hopefully you can make sense of that. I typed it and am having a little trouble lol

The one next to the distributor is the oil sending unit.
The camshaft position sensor is inside the distributor cap.
Was the crankshaft position sensor unplugged?

It was not, I did unplug it to do a couple trial and error type tests for current flow and what not.

ok I got a manual

I am getting a reading of 5.9 milliohms on the crank sensor and the manual says it should read really high or overload and if you get a low reading to replace.

How hard and is it possible to replace the sensor with the motor in the vehicle. If so how much stuff needs to be removed to get to it?

I still need to test the cam sensor but I already found one issue so I thought I better get this posted up.
