changing tire's need help

so recently I got some free tires from the automotive tech class at my school and the size is 255 up from the 225's that were on the truck. well I put those two on the rear and no problem they fit. my quest is if I put 255's on the front will there be any steering clearance issues due to the tire's being wider? if so what is a quick fix to any clearance issues because I really don't feel like staggering the tire sizes due to if I ran into getting a flat tire and had the wrong size spare

255/75/15? 255 70 15? need entire size ..

as a note i ran 12.5 inch wide on front 33X12.5R15 with slight rub on fullturn.

they are 255/60/15 and the ones that are on there are 225/70/15

the 255/60/15's are roughly 1.25 inches wider.. so roughly 0.625 inches outside and inside of rim from center... it is about 0.35inches smaller diameter .. so speed will say roughly 1mph more then your actual speed..

based on this .. it is very little change from original size.. but rim width will have an effect on true width..... 6 inch rim will cause tire to be taller not wider... and a wider rim will cause wider.. then taller (had this happen with 33's before :)

so in reality the tire shouldnt be a problem upfront cause the difference is minimal

SWEET!!!!!!!!!!! thank you so much for the help im super excited had the lower a arm ball joint fail when I hit a pot hole Monday the 17th and I was doing about 30 mph and the front right tire locked up on the road and wheel well and it wore some nice flat spots on the tread so I cant wait im rebuilding both upper and lower control arms getting new shock's as the truck has 225k on it and I don't think they have ever been done before and with the semi wider tire's ill be putting on front the truck should be handling much nicer!!! cant wait to sling it threw that first corner.... or first doughnut =D lol jk

Bsmith I currently run 255/60/15 up front and 275/60/15 in rear. No rub but I do have a big offset rim. American Racing Outlaw II

Thank you mini for replying! I bet those 275s are beast on the back of your Dakota and I would love to see what those rim's look like I still have the stock 6 shooter aluminum rim's. I like them but would love to find some simple 5 shooter classic muscle car style rim's

the highest ive ran on a stock dakota. was 31x10.50. gives you an idea.
