Blue smoke at start up and after long idle

Follow the instructions on that page Hughes links you to. I was like you and had never torn into an engine and it was fairly easy on my 3.9 with AC. Here is a tip get good painters tape1.5" wide and tag each line and bolt as you remove it with a sharpie. Wouldn't hurt to take pictures as you disassemble too. Don't put a time limit on yourself, just take it slow and make sure you understand what you are doing as you do it. It would help if you can at least get a roof over you while doing this. Think about replacing the timing chain and water pump, thermostat, the small cooling hose elbow you'll see once you get into the front end and whatever sensors are there near the thermostat since you will be so close and have all the stuff over them off. Be a bummer if you had to remove it all again after you did the plenum.

Okay sir; it's just that i don't have the skills to do it myself and a paid mechanic would be expensive.....actually, i called the dealership and a garage i've used and neither of them will even do the job.

Here is a cheap and dirty method to clean up dirty seals. YMMV
Warm it up and drain the oil. Remove oil filter drain it put it back on. Put 2 quarts new oil in and 1/2 quart of diesel in the oil. Drive it like normal for a day or two. I put 100 highway miles on my dak when I did it.
Warm it up drain the oil again remove the filter and replace new filter and proper amount of oil. This cleans up old seals and gunk from the motor. I have used it on my dak and an older 85 pickup I have.

So only drive it with 3-1/2 quarts of fluid in the crankcase? Will diesel degrade the oil right away?

2 1/2 quarts of liquid. You aren't going to beat it up just drive normally for a day or two to get some miles on it and let the stuff do its work. I just went out on the two lane Hwy and drove 50 miles and turned around. The other truck I let it sit for several days because I don't drive it a lot.

It should for no more than you'll need to use it. You may want to check with the big box auto parts stores nearby, too; they may have one on a Rent-A-Tool which would be better, and which would end up being free.
Here's a YouTube on how to do it on the car (well, with the cylinder head installed on the motor anyway!)
