Well i bit the bullet and ended up ordering the Hughes kit. The truck has 155k miles but runs excellent shifts even better and has absolutely no rust. So i might keep it for a while.
Well if you are keeping the truck, I dont blame you!! No doubt it would be better..... And its kinda cheap for peace of mind!!
Make sure you replace with new the little bypass coolant hose and its a good time to do the two sensors that are tight in next to the thermostat housing and the thermostat. You can get to them when it's all together but it's a real pain. I also did the water pump and timing chain while I had it broke down. (Some later models only have one sensor next to the thermostat)

And while it's broke down, if you do the timing chain, consider adding the tensioner; plus I'd do the front freeze plugs.
Don't forget thread sealer; I don't think any of the bolts go into the water jacket on the Magnum for the water pump, but the ones on the LA motor sure do!
Hey, do you guys know if this gasket failure issue is for fuel injected engines only? I have a 3.9 first gen but its a carburated engine cause its an 87 Dak. Just curious if this is something I need to be worried about.

Does it have the kegger intake? If not, then you have nothing to worry about.
