The Magnaflow 50203 and the pictures of the Walker 40272 show a pre-cat on them; factory doesn't have it, of course, for a 1988.

I really don't care; it's not like I'm building a race truck but I wanted new to go with the newly rebuilt motor.

Wouldn't the 40235 work? Or is the geometry of the motor changed that much in the gen one between 88 and 94. On RA there is no Y pipe earlier than 94 listed. If all is the same except the diameter, I would think going with the Walker 94 Y you could have a shop swedge the bell to make it bigger to fit you manifold for less than you were saying Magnaflow wants. I don't think a 2.5 or 2.75 Y will hurt you much.

I don't know if the exhaust manifold side comes out the exact same.

I don't have the time to futz with it, alas; for about $105 extra (plus pain and suffering) I'm going with the Magnaflow unit.

Besides, it IS stainless ... Walker was aluminized.

It just irks the hell out of me that the wrong part was in the box.

Not RockAuto's fault, at that! What's in there doesn't look like ANY pictures I've seen of a 40232.

The MagnaFlow 50203 has shipped; now to see if it actually arrives and is the right part.

The Four Seasons 55537 High Pressure Hose is NLA, it seems; I picked up a Mopar hose at the boneyard today, and had it remade with brand new rubber for $131 (!!!)

Even so, I bet the new hose will outlast the old hose, and IT had pressure on it when I cracked the seals today.

New 3-point seat belts (auto adjusting) shipped from Wesco yesterday; that'll be nice in the truck.

Truck is now at the mechanic's. I'll do the A/C when it comes back, no need to pay him for what I can do here.

One last expense for today .. a seller on Ebay had two reman'ed heads for a LA 3.9; dropped the price to $183 or so each, free shipping. These are already valved and sprung, just need the rocker arms and shafts to be complete.

Well, now they don't have their last two; they're on their way to me. For $375.

Ouch.

But, with the odds being over 30% that at least one head is cracked on the Dakota, and probably pushing 50% due to age ...

Three things totally unrelated, but also bleeding out the wallet

1) Old 30 year old JBL speakers out of the wife's Cougar, new Pioneers in.
2) Old JBL amps bypassed, due to the newer head unit (put in after Christmas.)
3) Door latch fixed on driver's side of Cougar. Well, working; the plastic is chewed up, so a replacement pair is ordered, but not in yet.

And 4) WHEW! Sweated like I was being waterboarded! It's hawt!!! (HI of 104, thermally 98 ... in the shade!)

Also checked the switches for the cruise control on the Cougar, to see why it doesn't control the cruise.
