Resto update

Been a while since I've been able to post anything substantial on my own truck. So... Finally an update.
The back half of the truck is done, all rust is gone, everything has been prepped and painted, leafsprings ha e been fully rebuilt. They got sandblasted, painted, Teflon liners between each leaf, new clamps, new shackles, all poly bushings, all new zing plated bolts etc. Literally the only thing left to finish on the back half is to prep and rhino line the bottom of the bed and mount it.
As for the front half.... We just pulled the cab off to do rockers, cab corners, and the new front floor pan and mounts. I just picked up a 91 2wd dak that spent it's life in Florida. Unfortunately it's a single cab or I'd just swap cabs and call it good. But all the body parts I need, fenders, core support, inner fenders, doors, bed etc don't have a spec of rust anywhere. One small dent by the driver's rear tail light and a larger dent on the passenger door. Other than that it will need minimal work when it comes time to paint. Should be cutting the floors out of both thrucks and getting the floor on my truck fixed this weekend. Here's a couple pics with the cab off

Ha! Actually I did run out if por 15 doing the back half. I've got more on order. It was easier to get the back half done before this point that way when I patched a couple of the mounts I could test fit the bed and make sure it still lined up with cab and fenders. Now when I build my cab floor I can test fit the cab using the body lines of the bed and make it all nice and straight. I'm not gonna lie... I've actually considered welding the bed to the cab and making it all 1 piece. Seen people do it to Chevy c10s and if it's done right it looks pretty good. I'd be screwed if my fuel pump goes out though

This is where you make an opening hatch in the bed right over the fuel pump, and make a new "hatch" cover from matching metal.

Or just do a wooden bed and hinge it there :icon_mrgreen:

I have a friend who basically did that.... But it was a chevy.... He ordered a patch panel that had the same ribbed pattern as the bed floor. He cut the floor, replaced the pump and then used sheet metal screws to attach the panel.

But. FWIW if you plan to keep the truck, I would not weld the body or bed direct to the frame.....

BTW, good to see pictures of your project!!

I am actually planning on cutting a hole and doing a hinged door. Either hinged or I'm going to make it with quarter turn fasteners. Not sure which yet. I should be cutting the cab floor this weekend and getting the new floor in. As well as getting the mounts built. The parts truck has a sunroof and I'm debating whether or not I want to put that in my truck. It would actually be an easy install. Remove the sunroof from the parts truck, make a cardboard template, transfer it to my truck cut the hole and install it. Not sure if I want to yet. I know Ive gotta glue my headliner back to the backing board anyway so cutting a hole wouldn't be hard

I think there are some braces that run across the bed, under the floor, right over the tank in that area.......
