Rebuild kit for steering gear

Hi all o/

Dodge dakota 4x4 5.2 1996

I´m doing a rebuild on the steering gear. Having a problem finding the right kit for this vehicle... ..anyone with experience on this?

All the best - H

The gear box, or exactly which steering gear are you talking about?

If the gear box, RockAuto shows several vendors for the kit: https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...build+kit,7397

And if you don't like RockAuto, you can take the part numbers (say for the ACDelco or the with-bearings Edlemann) for the kit and Google for them.

thanks ralph

well I´v tried Edelman and Sunsong from rock auto and both kits are the same. The rings for the main piston in those kits are too big, everything else seems to fit... starting to worry this gearbox is not original :icon_denk:

Have you found a Mopar part number on that gearbox or any part number for that matter? It could be that it's not original, nothing would surprise me anymore.

Thanks Steve
yes, there is a cast number on the housing and stamped on the alu-top, not seeing those numbers popping up in any search though.

And those numbers are?

The assembly part number SHOULD be 52004906 .

What you may be able to do is take the parts list from the FAQ here, go to page 525 (drawing 9-340A) and use the part numbers there to order the original factory bearings/bushings.

Note: They have the numbers in a split format; when looking, google "MOPAR 12345678" with the space removed.

so, something is looking odd, on the housing is the number 260(something looking like mirrored "C")0525 and on the alu top is 354A9, yes I looked at those drawings earlier this morning and from there I figured something was looking strange :) I wrote a line to benchworksteering.com and still waiting for their reply ... ... ...

thanks a lot Ralph!
