Is it Priced Right

Hi everyone I have a 88 Dodge Dakota Sport 4x4 manual 5 speed with the 3.9 in it, I reached financial difficulty where I'm unable to do the repairs necessary for my truck and I'm wanting the advice of this group to tell me how you would price this truck for sale, it's got a stetched timing chain that you can hear slapping after it's warmed up, a leaky radiator, and a clutch issue where if you release the clutch in 1st to quickly... (like you would normally)the gear grinds making the same noise it would make like you missed a gear, but never pops out of gear, all other shifting up into higher gears are fine, already tried bleeding slave cylinder, here's some pictures so you have a better idea of what in selling. So please help me price this truck right.

Trucks, especially 4wd sell high used in my area. But on the other hand, engine noise, and transmission noise will hurt the sale...... In this area, I would think $500.00 to $1,000.00 . The truck does look nice though.

You don't mention mileage, but on a truck that old, I doubt it would make much of a difference. I'd say $2000 tops for the right buyer. Probably less though, but that would be a good place to start and see if you get any bites.

I'd spend $1500 easy and probably more because of the lack of rust. But I guess that's because it's a huge selling point where I live. If it were mine I'd put it on CL for maybe $1700 and expect to haggle down.

Nice looking! Where are you near? Northern Illinois for me.

The reason that any of us mid-west or northern people would want it is because the body and undercarriage are in good shape, that's a decent selling feature. But in my neck of the woods that wouldn't sell it, at least from what I've seen around here.

No one wants to have to work on anything anymore and this needs some work. I would guess you'd be lucky to get $1k here and it still might not sell. I've seen trucks that are nicer than what I have go to the JY because no one wants to have to get dirty fixing them. Notice all the FS adverts on CL with cars that just need a little something, part included but not installed. Adverts that say the fix needed is 'minor' or 'easy to do' etc. If it's so easy then why doesn't the owner do it? Typically that answer is I am just too busy with other things...sure you are.

It's a sad state of affairs but one I can kind of understand. Here in Des Moines you can't have an inop vehicle or they'll come tow it off, and if the City doesn't like you they'll be hitting on you every day to make sure your vehicles are operating and tagged properly.

$500 but honestly im not sure you would even get that much because theres alot of variables. could the buyer do all the repairs himself ? if not, i think a shop bill would be more than the trucks worth. is the trans still in good working order, is theres leeks like axle seals, are balljoints and steering components still in good shape, shape of tires, what about cv joints, heater and ac work good ?

many many times, older used vehicles are nothing but huge problems for a buyer and should be avoided unless they can practically get the vehicle free

I wonder if Newt1 will ever be back.....

No more than $1500 with all those issues. The truck is nice looking and looks rust free.

you people are generous. i can fix all those problems myself and still i wouldnt pay over $500. with parts and my time to fix everything it just wouldnt be worth a penny over $500 imo. ya it may not have rust but that doesnt raise the value much, in my book
