Install Brake Master Cylinder

Hello

Does one know, perhaps, which connection from this main brake cylinder is in front for the brake circle?

Brake ... circle?

Do you mean the front rotors?

I don't know for sure, since I don't know the application, but back in the early days of disc brakes, the one closer to the firewall was for the front discs, the one further away for the rear drums.

You SHOULD be able to just disconnect the old master cylinder and connect the new in the exact same place, though.

A Centric? No.

What year, body, and is it 2WD or 4WD is your vehicle?

Also, if a later Gen1 Dakota, is it RWABS or 4WABS?

Just did a cross check - that happens to fit my 1988 2WD.

So, first off, that's a bit higher than you can buy it in the USA ... https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...+cylinder,1836

Second, what difference does it make? Connect the lines the same as they are to the old master cylinder.

Third, if you've taken the old lines out ALSO, and didn't make notes like you should have, on my Dakota, they both disappear to under the cab down to the proportioning / distribution valve. So ...

It is generally about where which port is for the rear brake circuit of this master cylinder.
Not vehicle specific.

Why, yes, it IS vehicle specific. And now I have to ask, why you are asking.

But I DID answer how it was done back in the days when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, the Dakota was an Indian tribe, and Dodge was what you tried to do at recess ...

Should be the rear port for the front brakes. On mine with only rear wheel abs the rear port leads to the front of the proportioning valve and the front port leads to the rear of the valve. Then there is a line from the rear of the valve that loops into the abs module. The line that comes out from that is for the rear brakes. I'm gonna go take a picture for ya.

see where my fingers are. Pointer finger is at the rear MC outlet. Follow that line to my thumb at the inlet of the proportioning valve. Then at my middle finger see the outlet of the proportioning valve that goes to the front brakes. The rest of the lines are for the rear brakes.
