check engine light won't flash??
 

Hi there.. I have a friend who has a '95 Dakota 318 auto, and I guess sometimes when he'd drive, check engine light would come on, and the truck would stall... but he'd try to start it and if the check engine light was "on" when he'd try, it would start up... BUT if the light didn't come on during start up, the truck would just crank over.... ??? I don't own a dodge anymore, but I had one once and I told him to try the code thing, and he said he can't because the check engine light won't even come on at all now!!!! not even for code readings... ?????? weird.. what could cause the light to not even come on?? he's got good power, it cranks, but won't start... he'd have to have it towed somewhere to have it diagnosed I guess... but any "backyard" recommendations??? Thanks!!!!

I would try and look and your connections. and is it getting fuel/spark? thats the first thing i would look at.;)

he replaced the computer and fuel pump... not sure about spark though..

did he check the bulb?
