Default A535 / NP2500 5-spd transmission thread

I have some good info on the tranny I wanted to share, some of the links should go in the FAQ , I might take some of the diagrams and guides for the transmission and make my own at some point so it can be downloaded easily. I'm also going to get the Factory manual for the truck since I never bought one.

This site lists rebuild kits and other parts, Would I be fine with just a kit or are there more parts one would need for a rebuild?

Important to note that if you have a Dakota from 87-91 with a manual trans, you more then likely have the A535 / NP2500 transmission. The NP3500 (NV3500) was offered as an optional transmission, as I was told by a dealership technician.

If anyone has more info, pics or anything related post it up, if someone could scan the section out of the factory service manual that covers repairs that would be nice too.

I'm going to do a rebuild as soon as I have the extra cash for parts and specialty tools.

I will post up a link in the FAQ for this post. Nice find on those links.

As far as the info we got the NV3500 only came on V8s 94-95

Here is a copy from the FAQ. The link at the bottom also only lists the 3500 for 94-up on V8 Dakotas.

Manual
1987 - 1991 New Process A535 / NV2500 (same transmission... the name changed when the company was sold)

1992 - 1993:
L4 and V6 AX-15 5-speed (1st 3.83, 2nd 2.33, 3rd 1.44, 4th 0.79 Rev. 4.22)
V8 No Manual trans offered.

1994 - 1996
L4 and V6 AX-15 5-speed
V8 NV3500 5-speed (1st 4.01, 2nd 2.32, 3rd 1.40, 4th 1.00,5th 0.73, Rev. 3.55)

Here is a list of Manual transmissions by make and year.

Can I put this transmission in a 1978 dodge w100 with a 318 motor?
