Default Parking Brake light on. Spring switch?

So here is my problem. I have a 93 Dakota LE 4x4 and as of tonight the Parking brake light is constantly on. I know what happened I just don't know how to fix it seeing as I've never had this happen before.

I was waiting for a friend to get home earlier and I put on the parking brake. Thats when I heard a spring come loose and there was this large spring with a piece of plastic at my feet. I'm positive its the spring that works the Parking brake light. I just don't know how to remount it so that the light goes off. Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like it all broke apart. Your probably need to replace the parking brake assembly. Junkyard is going to be your best bet.

The pedal still works and my Parking brake still engages and disengages. The spring isn't busted either so wouldn't I be able to just pop it back into its place?

Most likely something broke, that is why the spring came off. It is not meant to do that, so most likely no you can't pop it back in. But go ahead and try, maybe you will get lucky.

Well I fixed it lol. Messed with it for awhile before I started my attempt at pulling the Idler and Pitman Arms off (Failed due to lack of the right tools btw lol)
Whether the spring is mounted where its supposed to be I don't know but I've got it working again and thats what matters to me lol.
Thanks for the help though
