Lightbulb Transmission years?

Have a 92 3.9 2wd auto. I am being told ONLY the 92 tranny will fit.How true is this statement?

92-95 V6 Ram, Dakota, Van will work. Heck the same years V8 transmission will work.

V6 has 42rh, V8 46rh. 2wd will only work for you.

Thank you.Guess on my part I should have researched more but got a rebuilt for $750 after being quoted $600. drove over an hour to get there so took it. Told me the engine in my truck had been switched to a 94 and was a diff tranny wich was more money.I knew that engine hadn't been switched but he wasnt going down on the price but was still cheaper than $1200 to rebuild mine...Works great so I'm over it but I now know the difference.
