Over Head Console Install
I was out at the junkyard a few weeks ago. I always peek inside some nice cars/vans looking for a good over head console with lights and a large pocket. I finally found one, I forgot exactly the car but a Dodge or Chrysler car/sedan early 90's. I painted it and make simple brackets to bolt it up.
I don't know why Dakotas only came with the crappy stock dome light that doesn't cover anything especially in the Club Cabs. I installed the lighted mirror from my Trans Am in the Dakota when I first got the truck years ago. So then it helped along with a simple light on the drivers and passengers floor under the dash. But now with this console it is as bright as day!

The simple mounting brackets.
A good shot of the lighted rear view mirror and the new console.

Actually the gen 2 Dakotas did come with an overhead console option. I'd post a picture but since this forum only allows me to post like on picture heres a link http://www.dakota-durango.com/forum/showthread.php?t=112917
EDIT: (sorry meant to say 1st gen Dakota on this forum)

Yup 96 maybe 95 very few came with the over head console with temperature and compass, which is what I always been looking for. But 99% don't and that is what I was referring to in the first post.
