Default Help Locating Wiper Transmission

Hey fellas; so i'm about to tackle replacing the wiper linkage bushings and had the thought to go ahead and replace the entire transmission but i'm having trouble locating one. The ones i do find don't go back to 1991, that's what i need to find...windshield wiper transmission assembly for a 91 dakota 2wd 3.9l. Where do you guys go to buy this? thanks

don't think you will find one other than a junk yard. does yours not work? the old sane 'if it's not broke don't fix it". pay very close attention to the orientation of the linkage arms. very easy to get them in backwards and/or upside down.

Also, while rebuilding, be sure to put some lithium grease in each of the bushings.

That helps extend the life QUITE a bit.

I lucked out and found one on Ebay for my '95. Is yours stripped out? if the splines on the parts that the arms attache to are in good condition, I would just buy some new bushings, disasemble the transmission and put the new bushing in (and add the grease as mentioned above.

I did this with the one I found on Ebay before installing it since the bushing on it were pretty nasty looking. Works smoothly and is nice and quiet.

Umm ... after removing the plastic cover under the cowl piece, I had no problem getting in and removing the transmission so I could work on it on my table.
