92 Kota - 5.2L - Trans Problems
Just bought a `92 Dakota the 5.2L in it runs perfect. But the transmission feels like it just doesnt have enough tranny fluid in it. I am gonna check that out here in alittle bit and the brakes need bleeding she had been sitting for along time and the brakes went out on it on the way home. Put a new battery in her though and she started running like a champ, just wanted an opinion on what I should check out on the tranny and all and if there are any common things to do and same thing with the dakotas electrical charging system.

When you check the transmission fluid, make sure you check it the proper way: engine warm and idling, transmission in neutral (you should shift it thru each gear), and on level surface.
It would probably not be a bad idea to change the filter, adjust the bands, and do a flush. Keep one thing in mind: use ONLY ATF+(3 or 4) transmission fluid (preferably ATF+4).
Follow the specs for the 46RE for band adjustment:
