Default Engine Fan Wobbly

Took in 2002 Durango for oil change at one of the quick lub places and the guy told me my engine fan was wobbly/shaky when they started up the engine. I have also noticed that it roars loudly when started until you go into gear. Anyways, he said he thinks it needs a new clutch. I am scheduled to have this replaced next week but wondering if it is really the issue? It has not been diagnosed by the dealer so they might tell me it's something else.

Thanks

When the engine is cold, can you rotate the blades? Or does it stop almost immediately? If it rotates, then your clutch is bad. Better to change it than have to change your whoel engine. Just my $0.02.

For about $50 over at Checkers I heared. Don't get the heavy duty model cause it doesn't like to turn off........LOL

Could also be a worn water pump bearing.

If the shaft wobbles with the fan it is the water pump shaft bearing. If the clutch is wobbly (thinking back to my clutch I don't see how that could happen) then look at a new clutch. Both replacements are very simple and should not cost too much. Don't bother taking it to the stealer if you aren't planning on doing your own service. A monkey could change either component. Just ask Hydra.
