I hit a chair that someone dropped on the freeway at 65mph and trashed the cooling system because the stock plastic bumper simply caved in are there real steel bumpers avaialble
the 98 and 99 had steel upper portions(the part that is painted black) of the bumper on them, i think they made the change in 00 to the all plastic bumper
2000s also had the steel upper section, 01 started the 1 piece plastic version. I'd just put the stock bumper on and maybe put a brush guard or something like that on in front of it.
My 99 is all plastic on the lower part that is what caved in and whacked my cooling system . . . it is the part with the fog lites and license plate holder. steel replacement or off road replacement either will work
At Durange, lately the Aussie outside rollbar Road Warrior style would work for me. Benefits of tire sticking out. Had car turn into my 1956 ****** with 35 in Procomp M/Ts and left a tire mark from the front to rear and the chick kept on going like nothing happened. New Mustang coming out of Ford hit my buddies F350 37s and trailer, not even off the lot and wrecked.

While ****tay for the body panels (no gaurds) the offset tires helped me plenty as you mentioned with mindless drivers, also on the trail. Will take a tree hit to the tire over blown out windows anyday haha. Gota be carefull with my larger setup now because i dont bump off things rather than climb up. Any car, vette's etc and id be testing out the roll cage
