Default How does the AWD system work on the Durango?

So I went to a dirt parking lot at school to test out what happens. I was in standard awd mode I started from a stand still and I mashed on the gas to get the tires to spin. Automatically thefront began to spin. I couldn't see what the rear was doing tho. So how does it work? Is it always full power to all 4 wheels? Or doe it use rwd and when it senses slippage it adds power to the front? I'm curious. And if I switch to 4wd hi or lo all spin case it locks the two doffs togeter so I got that. I just don't know how the awd system works. Thanks

AWD will transfer power to the rear drive wheel or the front wheel if the drive slips. AWD will make the inner wheel brake to allow the outer wheel spin faster to compensate in a turn (one must spin slower - limited slip differential). 4lock will lock the differential and all wheels will spin at the same speed so in a turn, the inner or outer wheel must break contact and skip. That is why it is hard to make tight turns is 4lock. AWD is nice, but 4lock is better as either both the front or both the back wheels (one or the other) is moving instead of one rear or one front wheel as in AWD. If the right side of the vehicle is on ice and the left is on dry pavement, you will not move in AWD. 4lock will transfer power to the dry side and you will move,

question how come the car wouldnt go anywhere if its in AWD mode when half is on ice and half on pavement? does the system send power to the wheels that are slipping?
