Thermostat ?'s
On my 99 durango 5.9L, what is the best thermostat temp to run, 180, 195, what? And what is the difference in them? What do they effect and what changes will each make and what can i expect with either one? I live in PA climate if that helps, thankyou in advance! All answers are appreciated!

IIRC, it was the older models of cars that do not have the OBDII connections that had "sniffers" out into the tail pipe to help with inspections. The hotter the engine, the more impurities burnt off to pass the emissions test. The newer models have the OBDIIs that connect right to the inspections computer and takes abot 15 minutes to run the test. Anything wrong would be picked up and taken care of there. I may be way off but that's what I was told.

I was told by a mechanic that using a 180 would cause the computer to run funny causing improper readings and it then readjusts the airfuel ratio trying to make up for the change. Is this true? Maybe i should keep the 195 then, will the 180 help with the electric fan swap and keep it cooler, i have no fan clutch now just daul efans, so wich tstat is my better choice then?
