Default Alternative tire sizes on 16x8 wheels?

I have an '02 Durango with the factory 16x8 wheels. My tires are about shot and it's time to replace them. The stock tires are 255x65x16. I'm wondering if there are any other tire sizes which will feet these wheels well? (Obviously the inner diameter has to remain at 16 but I'm thinking the width and outside diameter might be variable up to a point.)

I might consider either going smaller (to save a few bucks) or larger (to get a more aggressive off-road setup.)

the largest stock tire size is p265 70 r16, which equates to almost exactly 31 inch diameter tires some say you can go bigger, but i would not recommend it on the stock setup

Thanks. Any recommendation on practical limits for going smaller? (within reason, that is. my goal would be to save a few bucks by getting cheaper tires, not to go for a low-rider look.)

honestly i wouldnt go any smaller than stock, personally i would stick with the stock tire size bc when you change the tire size your speedometer either will be off or you need to have it re-calibrated in order to be accurate.
