Default Something Groaning in the Rear

Hi,
Can someone give me an idea what might be going on here? Sometimes when I back up, there is a loud groaning sound coming from under the D. It sounds like the wheels/brakes/axle or something is binding up. Appears to be coming from the back section of the truck. It rolls fine forward - this is only when I go in reverse, and not all the time. It's at the shop now, but they haven't yet heard the sound.
Any ideas?

'02 Durango, 360, tow package, stock everything except wheels/tires. 58k miles.

i want to say look at the auto adjusters for the rear drums, they activate on a rocking motion (backward the forward) so if they are binding when they activate it could be that

Okay thanks, I'll check that out. Would they be similar to the adjusters on my Jeep (Chrysler 8.25 axle)? I know I could look it up, but while I still have your attention ...

02:

Sorry to hear this.

The Chrysler limited slip or Anti Spin carrier as they call is is known for having issues with the C clips that hold the clutch packs in place.

When was the last time you serviced the rear axle? If its been never, or over 30k it would be a good idea to pull the cover, clean out the old oil and gunk, and put fresh gear oil in.

Mobil 1 Synthetic and Royal Purple both work very well.

Let us know how this goes for you.

02, i would imagine so, but i havnt taken the drums apart on an 8.25, my dads (OLD) truck as the last one to have that, and he had 4 wheel disc brakes on it. of course drums are pretty universal so i would be surprised if the systems were different, especially inside of the same brand
