Default Looking at a 99 Duragno SLT w/ 130k

Hey everyone.

I need to replace my aging but loved 95 Pathfinder. 212k and it has been solid but now its starting to need work and I dont want to sink the money into it.

So, the dealer I bought my Challenger from has a 99 Durango on the lot and I'm curious about maybe trying to pick it up. I just have a couple questions.

1) Are there any common problems known to this vehicle that I should be aware of.

2) At 130k what should I be expecting in the realm of upcoming maintenance?

Thanks Guys.

Timing Chain if not already done and a full Maintenance package needed which includes:

Plugs and wires
Oil change
radiator flush
Tranny fluid changed
The 4x4 fluid changed preferably
Look and see but may need new brakes and drums or rotors
maybe new tires

These are a beauty to have if fixed when needed and well maintained. Is yours a 5.2L or 5.9L or 4.7L? 130k is really not that many miles on these rigs too but what is the asking price? it shouldn't be really any higher than 6k if it is a 5.2L

Its a 5.2 and they are asking 5k...but I would only buy it if I could get into it for 3-4g.

I really dont want to put any extra money into it on top of that...at least not for a year hopefully...

Otherwise I'll just the 2-3k into my pathfinder to replace everything (tranny, clutch, front axle, etc)

Thanks!

I got mine with 160. An i swear the 1st day i bought it i took to the keys about 7 hours from where i lived and it drove like a brand new truck. Had to have both front control arms replaced(squeaking drove me nuts). But i was very worried about 160 but unless something crazy happens(knocking on wood) then it dont really matter i love it

An i paid 5k but i got bad credit so yeah

They are worth it and no longer made so get it while you can as I expect the prices to jump due to no more being made.

Yeah...no offense, that aint gonna happen...

In my research I'm coming across people whose engines blew from sudden low oil pressure drops.

And ball joints. Those seem to be a big issue with this model.

Anyone experience this?

Never have on my end but I have only 117k on my rig. It is a 1999 Durango SLT 5.2L. The only issue I had was I needed to replace a lifter #5 intake as it was stuck Cost me about 45.00 to fix it total as I did the work and I am no mechanic either. Just researched how to.

Seems like most people with blown engines happened around the 50-60k mark.

The ball joint issue seem universal shared by the Dakotas of that same generation.

It really depends on how well it was maintained and such so it varies per truck. I go mudding and 4x4ing all the time and have yet to pop my ball joints and such. Knock on wood now. I live in Washington State so there is plenty of mountains and forest area to have fun if you know what I mean.

I feel ya....just trying to get a feel for what I might be getting myself into. The whole of not fixing the pathfinder is jump into something else worry free.
