when I shift into reverse it drops into the gear HARD. Like BANG. It is less harsh when shifting from park into reverse than shifting from drive into reverse- but still a pretty big clunk.

and as a side note- this thing either rides a lot lower than it looks... or I've gotten real fat in the last 10 years.
So, I've only had it for less than 2k miles and in the last couple of days I've felt like the slamming into reverse thing was not as bad. Is it "normal" that the... amount of "thunking into gear" would vary a bit based on ambient conditions? Weather, warmedupness of the rig, etc?
I guess what I am really trying to figure out is if maybe the car is totally fine and I am just a big sissy who is not used to a big motor with a beefy tranny behind it...
Just my .02 but it could be the torque convertor on it's way out. I had this happen to me on my 86 ram 150, same symptoms and torque convertor it was. Do you notice any shaking or noises when driving normally in drive?
