Default None Working Speedometer...

Hey guys I did some searching but didn't come up with the answers that I needed so I thought I might make a thread and just ask...

I have a 1999 Dodge Durango SLT 4x4 with a 5.9. Soon after I got it the speedometer stopped working, the check engine light came on, as well as the low wash light and check engine light. About a day or 2 later I turned off the car and the ABS pump continued to pump and I was forced to disconnect the control unit to get it to stop.

I have since replaced the speed sensor on the rear differential but that didn't fix the speedometer problem. My question is the following: Is there more than 1 speed sensor on the Durango, and if so where? Also how do I fix the ABS pump, and could it be affecting my speedometer somehow?

Thanks in advance for your help...

First thing you need to do is get that MIL checked out and let us know what the code is. Second in order to fix the pump if it's acting up unfortunately you Might need a new pump because it's very complicating to rebuild.

Yes, there is another VSS on the output shaft of the transmission and id recommend that before you go forward with replacing this and that.

I went to Auto Zone today and had the codes checked and it came back with just one code: P0500. If I'm not mistaken isn't that a speed sensor code?

Later...

Yep P0500 is "No Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal". First check to make sure you didnt screw up something on that first sensor, because stuff happens and we're all only human. Replace that other speed sensor and you will be good to go about your way!
