02 Durango p0141 p0161

I have a 2002 durango with the 4.7, 2 wheel drive. Recently I had the codes p0141 and p0161 both come at the same time. I figured it was a fluke because both 02 sensors couldnt go out at the same time so I reset the codes and they came back the next day. I have traced the wires and they look to be in good condition. My durango has 4 sensors total. It doesn't seem possible that two sensors go out at the same time, has anyone else encountered this?

P0141 1/2 02 Sens Relay
P0161 2/2 02 Sens Heater Failure

Ensure there is no brake fluid in any of the harnesses. Have you been driving in wet weather lately?

The harnesses are dry on the sensors themselves and also where the sensor wires connect to the larger harness. i have searched a bit online and found that there are issues sometimes with the heater relay causing this problem. I swapped the relay with the fog light relay. the fog lights still work fine but i plan to leave it that way to see if i get the service engine light again. im *hoping* that after the relay has power running through it for a while it heats up and stops working, which causes the check engine light. I do sit in about 2.5-3.5 hours of traffic per day, so the relay would have plenty of time to do that. My driving conditions are pretty much always dry though, living in southern california. If I don't get another check engine light I will just replace the relay, or else I will be back with what ive learned.

Sounds like a winner,

Please update when you get your results.

Well, it did not go as i had hoped. The service light came on again this morning on my way to work so it was not a power issue. I will have to wait until this weekend to do more troubleshooting because its dark by the time i get home at night. I will try testing ohms and power at the sensor itself. if i still cant figure it out, i will purchase the upstream o2 sensor and see what happens. will post results this weekend.
