Pulling a trailer.

Yeah,a 14' isn't going to load it up too much.....The owners manual says to turn the O/D off when you're driving through hilly areas to prevent overshifting and overheating but your not talking about pulling a double axle with 28" cuddy or something....FirePro has it,try it out and see what you get...
Might want to check the trans fluid an make sure your full and it's clean...service if needed just to protect your trans....The manual suggests changing the diff fliud to synthetic also...I know it's a little off topic but sumpin to think about if you're gonna tow a lot.....

I have also been switching fluids. I changed the diff fluid a few months ago. And just did the trans 2 weeks ago. I figures it was cause it wasn't I forgot to put the magnet back in the trans pan though. I stuck it on the outside. I hope it helps. Maybe I'll try and find a stronger magnet.
I noticed someone changed the rear diff but not the front I did them both anyway.
I also changed the trans fluid in the transfer case. That was never changed also. 117,000 miles and everything is in pretty good shape. The stuff thats not I'm slowly fixing.

Hey...there ya go.That's how you get them back to top form....If you have all your fluids and filters up to date and you're keeping up with general maintenence I bet you have a good season of towing that boat around..these trucks seem pretty damn good at hauling...Just go with FirePro's idea..take it for a rip and see how the trailer feels...bet it's all good.......

I think the manual states to switch out of overdrive if the load is over 3000 lbs, could be 3500 lbs. But with a 14 foot boat I can't see that it will be much more then 3500 lbs anyway. My 19 foot Fiberglass inboard 350 chev weighs in at 4500lbs plus the trailer at 500 for a total of 5000. Also remember that a boat is arrow dynamic so there is no drag, or very little. I would say try it in overdrive and see how it goes. If you can't hold a good speed, and/or is shifting up and down lock it out. Those shifts will overheat your trans. Switch over to Fully Synthetic fluids if you are towing a lot.
