Exclamation 45RFE/545RFE problem - RPM spike in O/D

Okay so I know I've already had a thread on this before but recently the problem has been occurring more frequently. Basically is what happens is once I hit my 2nd O/D (From the 545RFE TCM swap) my RPMs sometimes spike about 200 RPM. It's usually a double spike with a few seconds between spikes. It is noticeable, in sound and feel, and when I hit my O/D switch my RPMs will shoot up to about 4500RPM and then drop back down to about 2500RPM. I'm not really sure what a slip feels like, but I am in serious need of help. I've considered replacing the output speed sensor to see if this resolves the problem. This is my daily driver and I cannot afford to be without a vehicle. Again, any input is much appreciated.

so this is happening at highway speeds? 50+ most likely?

check the fluid level first (tranny hot, engine running tranny in nuetral) and let us know where it is

Lol I forgot to add that I had already checked the fluid level and it appeared to be full. Hard to tell though because the metal dipstick color is already fairly dark.

I would replace the output sensor just to be safe first.

Hello... I'm new to the form but have owned a 98 Durango since new and just bought a 01 r/t as a second and "summer truck". It sound like the same thing that i have had trouble with on my 98. Be at hyw speed on cruise and the rpm jump 150 or 200 for a second then normal again. The first time this happened i ended up taking it to 3 dealers before one guy figured it out. He replaced the TPS and all is good. It has happened several times since as i have over 260km on the truck and its still going, just rusty lol. I have changed the TPS 3 times on the life of the truck.
Hope that helps.

Before replacing the output sensor, try switching the input sensor to the output and take the output and put it into the input side of the transmission. Both sensors are the same part number.

Okay, When doing this does the transmission need to be warm or the vehicle level? I currently don't have access to anything flat.

i dont see why it would matter to swap sensors, only if you are checking fluid level
