Everyone will say
Bilstein
Rancho
Monroe
KYB

Probable in that order. Heavy towing get heavier shock rated for your use. I just bought some Rancho's to put on in the spring. Light towing occasionally but better than OEM.

Rancho rs5000's is what I'm running, little stiffer ride but good load handling.

I was gonna get the KYB monomax come spring time...but if I can I might go rancho R9000XL. But have no clue really.
I really like Bilstein, but only for cars. I had a friend that ran some on his toyota pickup, we basically had the exact same truck except mine had a 4.3 vortec and he had a 3.4L. He had to replace his 3 times over an 18 month period. My rancho's did perfect and I ran them for 2 years and sold the rig with them...But to each their own

I got Rancho rs9000XL for mine also. Not installed yet. Advanced had and internet sale 4-5 weeks ago. %15 off, free shipping, and for every order over $100 and internet coupon for $50 on your next order over $100.

I got my front 2 and then ordered my rear with my $50 coupon. Made the price very nice on a set of 4.

KYB have been on my Road Runner for 6 years and would buy them for the D if not for the coupon sale at Advanced for the Rancho's.

You don't show whether you have 2wd or 4x4.
If you have a 2wd model, then Monroe makes a coil over Sensa Trac that will work on the rear of your truck.
"Monroe Sensa-Trac load adjusting shock absorbers (w/coil over springs) can assist in maintaining ride height when up to 1,200 lbs. of additional weight is loaded."
These shocks run about $90 each on RockAuto . com's site.

The 4x4 rear shocks are about 1.5 inches longer and for whatever reason they don't seem to make this shock for the 4x4 model.
I would purchase them if I could find them.

They don't make it easy for you to figure out but the Sensa Trac series is made more for off-road use and the Reflex is made more for the road.
It took me a while before I found that little tidbit of info!

I have the Rancho 5000s and love them. I pull a horse trailer with mine and it's very smooth. I also do a fair amount of off roading
