Upper Radiator Hose replacement

Upper Radiator Hose replacement
Just got back from a 2200 mile trip and had a very small leak from the upper radiator hose from the filler cap to the radiator for the last 1000 miles. Got back, but I'm looking online and see that the prices vary and I'm wondering why.
It looks like what I have is the Mopar Performance hose that has the plastic cap housing with the hose that goes to the radiator and to the engine with the spring clamps on both ends.
The Mopar Performance is $36., and one from Gates is $71. Is there a big difference?
Also, I plan on doing this replacement myself, so are there any suggestions on how not to make a coolant mess - like take the hose of the radiator first.

Forget the plastic crap the replacements have. Go get a Moroso radiator hose filler. I got mine for about $20 at a racing parts store. Its an aluminum 1.5" unit that will never break like the plastic crap does. It takes the standard rad cap and the overfill hose connector even fits right. Just buy short pieces of hase and cut to fit. I reused my stock hoses for now. Its a great fit and looks cool to.
