exhaust system replacement
I'm looking to replace the entire exhaust system on my 2001 4.7. Just wondering if anyone has done the work themselves and my have any words of wisdom before I undertake this. Thanks

It's pretty straight-forward, depending on what you're actually doing.
I usually modify exhaust systems after the downstream HO2 sensor, so that I don't confuse the computer as I don't do programming mods. Mostly I take a pipe cutter and chop the muffler out then slap a piece of pipe with a couple clamps in. If you're doing headers, hang onto the Y pipe and converter as they should match up without too much hassle. The Y through the converter are welded/sealed, which just makes for a bear of a fix if you need to replace. |

That . . . doesn't make any sense. I was just under my ma's Durango and the muffler is clamped in plus I can see the fitting flares from the manifolds on back. Lemme do a liitle research here and see what I can find . . .

They have from the muffler back and headers. The cat and pipe between the two are indeed one piece. |
