I think I've done it all. ???
Alright, my problem keeps showing up every 6 mo or so. Idles down/dies. Only will stay started when giving gas. I have changed TPC, IAC, PCV, Battery, removed TB and cleaned the **** out of it. Changed wires, plugs, cap. Also changed gas cap. Had some kind of smoke test to check for leaks, changed the charcoal chamber? Still, same problem when the weather changes, about every 6 mo here in Texas. Right now, I hear a gurgle in the small line to the PCV valve. Also hear a steady presistant clicking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

where in tex? Im in Arlington. my D always attempts to stall when its in the mid 50s or on a cold start and driving a bit after it warms up its fine. im assuming my problem are the lifters in my 4.7 not doing their job while the engine is cold they make a hella lot of racket when engine is cold. im gonna replace them soon as i get the damn spring tool.

i believe so. basically the real name is "hydraulic valve lash adjusters" something like that but with your motor i think you have to remove the intake manifold and other things to get to them. my motor has overhead cams so mine are under valve covers.

Sounds like a lot and/or money. Hope not.

still dont know if yours are your problem. plus not sure how to test it but i see on ebay they run around 130 to buy and i would guess youd need to do it in a week end to take your time. but gotta find out if thats the culprit.

Buddy of mine said to tell yall the Durango has an Engine Surge?
|
dunno. i know when its cold and i come to a stop itll rev up then come down and try to stall. but it only does it once and never again. and it only tries to stall in very cold weather

I have no clue. Was hoping someone had an idea.

replace the PCV valve with a OEM, not aftermarket to stop the gurgling. Happen to me too. Only the OEM won't do that.
One thing came to mind about your stalling issue. Change out the mass air sensor. Could be the Mass air sensor is not giving correct information when you have a seasonable or weather change environment that may cause the Durango to stall. I noticed when I changed my MAF sensor, I got an improvement on throttle response vs the original one. The persistent clicking could be your fuel injectors. My 5.9 at idle is quite silent. I can hear the injectors clicking. |
