Intermediate steering shaft `00 4WD
I need a new intermediate steering shaft for a 2000 Durango 4WD 4.7L.The small u-joint just above the coupling going to the box is bad. From what I`m gathering so far,the entire assembly has to be purchased.Anybody know where to get one at a descent price? If I could find the u-joint that would be even better, but it is small.

Just some info for anyone who things they might have a steering shaft issue.
I had some popping noises that I could feel through the steering wheel when I braked moderately, and when accelerating from a stop. The pops came in rapid succession "pop-pop-pop" when braking, and similarly when accelerating. It also had a rattle when going over small pot holes.
I heard these could be steering shaft issues, but I had none of the hard steering or steering wheel slop that others reported. There was no popping when I turned the wheel, either. When I pulled the shaft out of the vehicle, the u-joints were in good shape, but the slip joint was pretty tight.
Anyhow, I replaced the shaft. The popping and rattling is gone and the Durango feels about 5 years younger. I hope this helps anyone else who is troubleshooting a front-end rattle.
Cheers,
Bruce
