Default help please 98 durango low rough idle

whats up guys, I have a 1998 durango 4x4 with the 5.9L. Heres the thing, when i turn it on it starts off fine but then if i leave it running without actually driving it starts idling really low. I usually just turn it off and turn it back on and itll be fine!
Or if it happens while i'm driving I shift into neutral and floor on gas.
Sometimes when it acts up and im driving it gives a KNOCK coming from the under the hood.
Please help me if anybody knows the issue here.
Ive replaced the throttle position sensor(tps) but still acts up.

have you checked the IAC motor? that can cause weird idle issues as can a weak battery

Okay. I replaced the iac valve but it still does the same thing and now my check engine light cam on. Then i was reading the instructions & it said to take it up to 40mph. I guess my question is if its suppposed to clear the check engine light righy away or if it takes awile to clear by itself?

if you dont reset it manually it can take up to 500 miles after a problem is fixed for the code to go away on its own

Disconnect your negative battery cable, then get in the car and turn the key like you would start it and hold the key in the start position for 30 seconds. This will erase all stored data in the computer and any codes.

Did you reconnect the harness to the IAC? Dumb question I know, but easy item to forget in haste when installing a new item.

Oh okay thanks for the help. the check engine light turned off but now it still keeps idling really low like it wants to turn off..
It might seem like a dumb statement but it doesnt even have enough torque to do a simple still burnout. (brake & gas) at the same time..
