Headlight bulbs

I want to replace my stock headlight bulbs with something brighter but I don't want them to powerful to where they'll end up melting the plug. Any good kind out there that people use?

The only decent 9007 bulb is the philips Xtreme vision.

mykie64 08-29-2016 06:58 AM

You have them and if so how are they?

that_guy 08-29-2016 02:01 PM

I had them a long time ago when they were called xtreme power. They're the brightest 9007 you can get without getting a higher wattage (off road use) bulb. All of that blue coating (silverstar ultra) crap is a gimmick and makes less light.

Yes I know. I tried the slyvania silverstar and they were worse then the stock bulbs. Any trouble with the plug melting at all?

I never had that issue.

Anything throwing white light with decent output? I have aftermarket headlights and am about to install LED fogs. The yellow light will just look out of place, as much as I'd like the output.

You're not really going to get decent output from a whiter halogen bulb. To make those bulbs appear white you have to use filters to only allow the whiter/bluer end of the light spectrum through when most of the light produced is in the yellow/white (3700k) range.

And what kind of led fog lights are you using? If you're talking about drop in led bulbs for the stock fog lights those are just going to be glare factories with no usable output.

Understood. These are the full LED units that replace the OEM. Thanks!

Those look like they probably won't be useful for much but show. They don't have any real optics and are just going to scatter light around 360 degrees. Can't really tell what kind of LEDs those are from the pictures, but they don't look like anything special.
