Question Tires

Hi, I have a 2002 Durango 4.7.
I would like to raise the durango up a bit and I have a question on tires.
I have the option 1 on there now, the 265/70/R16. Would 315/75/R16 (35") fit on my current rims? Im not sure about the 75, I know the R16 is important but not sure if the 75 in the 315/75/R16 is.
Would I also need to buy new rims for those tires? Is there any tire from 32" to 35" that would work? The Durango has 2" lift now, and going to raise the body. Just not sure if those tires would be ok. I don't want to spend $780.00 and not have them work.
If anyone would have any better suggestions, that would be great!
Thank you for any help.

Absolutely no 35s. Torsion/Shackle lift (T/S lift) and 32X11.50x15 on mine. Barely rubs at full lock. Doesnt rub fenders. Really the biggest you can go without major issues. If you go to 33s you'll probably have to trim your fenders/bumpers/liners. There's just not room in these fenders for 35s

Question for you, I have an '01 Durango with the 4.7, are you currently running the 265/70 r16's and if so can you put a pic up? I want to go from 255's up to 265/75 r 16's if possible. Thanks. Also did you need the 2" lift to run them?

265/75/16s were a factory tire option(i had them on mine for 12 years), they will fit just fine without a lift.

Hi there, Sorry for the delay, been working on trying to get 35" on the Durango. Have to work the suspension a bit. I have the option 1 on there now. the 265/70/R16. I have the 35" but a bit big, can be done just need to rework the suspension. I got the idea from this forum and a picture of another durango. I believe Pspklutch, with the Torsion/Shackle lift (T/S lift) 32" are max.
Im going to go big like the picture that is attached, the red durango is built, and I cant go that high, but want to get close.
First picture is durango with stock well option 1 with the 315/75/R16 (35") next to it.
Second picture is the red durango picture found on this site, that I just fell in love with and gave me the idea. Good luck. I would follow Pspklutch idea, who answered my question, and is more practical.

Here is a pic of my Durango before and after the tire swap.

Stock was 265/70/R16 and after a Torsion bar crank up and shackle kit, I was able to put 285/75/R16 (approx 33") on there.

Also here is what a stock Durango looks like and then my "D" with the "lift" in it before I put on the larger tires.

While a 35" would like good/agrressive underneath, 35" seems a bit much for the axles that these Durangos have. I heard 33" is max to go or your risk "grenading" your differential(s).

Also what motor/gearing do you have in yours?

As for that red Durango, I am going to guess a Solid Axle Swap (SAS) was involved, and they were NOT Dodge axles.

See my pics above of what it looks like with 33" tires.

Exactly what I was going to say as well. The Chrysler 9.25 (rear diff) is stout. I would run it. The front... No. Absolutely not. I worry about my front diff with 32s. They are "aluminum housing IFS never really supposed to be used" differentials. You would crack the aluminum housing running 35s. Swap a heavy duty dana 44 under there then you'll probably be okay if your mainly playing in the mud.
