Smoke out my exhaust....

Okay, so everything I've read says white smoke meaning burning coolant and blue smoke is burning oil. I have tried to determine if the smokes is white, blue or grey.

It doesnt start smoking until its warmed up. No visual fluid loss and all fluids are still topped off. No lose of power or issues when driving. Though it's been parked since it started. Just the 14 mile drive home and idle trying to see what's going on.

I've gone over the PCV valves, checked my air filter, used a UV light on the exhaust pipe. No glow and no oil residue. (Though hasn't been driven a whole lot). It just started out of no where. So wondering if it's something small.

Is it possible that the transmission is leaking fluid back in the vacuum system?

Smell the smoke, If it has a sweet smell it's antifreeze if not it's oil. Antifreeze will dissipate in the air faster than oil. Oil smoke will hang around.

Yes. Put a rag or something in front of it and small the rag. See what it smells like. If it's only when warmed up, my immediate guess would be coolant as it's waiting for coolant pressure to build up before it starts smoking. But do the sniff test.

Maybe you could do compression and leakdown tests and post the results before any more parts. Those tools not a big cost on amazon.That would give a clue to the engine health.

Compression test it first, that should tell you just how far you need to tear down the motor to fix it.

There is never a cheap easy fix for a smoking exhaust. My bet is worn piston rings or valve seating issues.

So went down and smelt the smoke and really just smells like exhaust but after I came back inside all I could smell was gas.

Doing a compression test here soon and gonna check my fuel pressure.

1-3-5-7 on one side and 2-4-6-8 on the other.

These numbers make me think I blew a headgasket.

Looks like you sucked the gasket between 5 and 7.

Aside from those two cylinders, the rest are ok.

When I messed up one side and had to pull one head (not my finest wrenching hour), I figured it was worth pulling both. My shop magnafluxed them and found both heads were cracked, said half of the older 5.2/5.9 heads are. I had them replace the heads and clean up and swap over my old valves and new guides.
