Trans Issue's??????

Ok guy's, How about some help on this one.

Twice this has happened. I was cruising down the road about 40 mph and all of a sudden out of no ware my truck starts slowing down, all most like some other person was hitting the brakes like coming up to a light that just turned yellow that you decided to stop at it instead of flooring it and blowing through. I mean that it was pretty hard but not even close to slamming on them. I hit the gas about 1/4 throttle more and the truck didn't speed up, it was like it stayed at the same speed but when I took my foot off the peddle it slowed down pretty fast. Almost like a engine retarder on full.

I slipped it into neutral and it went away and coasted normal then put back into drive and no problem. I replaced the output or input sensor (there is only one)[sm=huh.gif] from the dealer's computer off my vin# because even he couldn't figure that out. I replaced this sensor because the trans was having a hard time distinguishing which gear to go in and I did this 2 months before this. (Hey it fixed the problem.)

The trans only has about 10K on it after rebuild. Any ideas?

RE: Trans Issue's??????

mine does this alot, i dont think it's the tranny i think it's in the engine, i'v asked the dealer an they cant figure it out, while your going down the road an it does it, put it in nutural an give it some gas an see if it pops back through the throttle body, mine does that alot an when it does it i have to take my foot off the throttle an let it stop popping then put it back in drive an punch it an it'll even it serlf out alot, but i also have a really bad problem with my idle, it'll jump like crazy an i know it's not the TPS because thats new along with the throttle body gaskets etc etc So if yours is doing this also then it seems to me that durango's have a major problem lol cause all u ever see is it having problems with hesitation.. if i find a fix first or u find one first besure to post it lol

Well I called the shop and I am taking my D in so they can check the trans. They seem to think it's electrical but not sure. They said it could be a lot of things.

I read in the owners manual that the trans has a temprature limiter sensor. When the trans gets too hot it will go into a safe mode, maybe the temp sensor for the trans is bad?

Good luck

Took the truck to the shop. They pulled the valve body out and are going through it. Good thing for that warranty.

Update.

Trans shop said it might be the pressure control solenoid.

Starting to get pissed off now. $132 for both solenoids and no fix. Shop said they will replace the Valve Body now.

I believe my 99 Durango is having the exact same issue.

Stopped at a stop light, had the stereo up a little loud so I couldn't hear the exhaust but looking down I notice I'm at 2200 RPM and only crawling through the intersection. After parking and being generally pissed off it seems to be just fine, except 5 minutes later the "Check Engine" light came on.

Glad tomorrow is the 4th and everyone is closed.

Replaced my Transmission Speed Sensor this morning, issue not reoccurring and CEL is off. $23 after Tax, 7 minute install.

I replaced the trans speed sensor aprox. 3000 miles ago because I didn't like the way it was shifting. It fixed the problem. The new problem is totaly different.
