RE: not much luck
what els have you done to your durango? did you have it dino?
|
RE: not much luck
J if your truck isn't wildly modded like bad's D then you can upgrade your fan to a crown vic fan I have read on these forums that it does great I'm about to do that myself. Propably a bit cheaper too.

RE: not much luck
mean green is right on the price the be cool rad was not cheap as for the dyno results i am currently at 389 to the wheels and 391 ftlbs and i run 20 inch wheels ,,thats all motor ,i am currently working on a turbo set up that will cost less than $2 gs for everything

RE: not much luck
My durango is running a little warm too (Dallas/Fort Worth area blistering at 100-107 lately) and my temp is holding around 210 while using A/C. I like to see what I can do to help keep my engine running as cool as possible during the summer seasons.
What is a crown Fan compared to the regular factory clutch fan? How much is that be cool radiator and how efficient is it in removing heat compared to the stock radiator? I know my R/T has the heavy duty cooling package that comes with R/T's so I do not know if that means it comes with a bigger than normal radiator? |
RE: not much luck
I think if I read right the the mechanical fan (clutch) is left alone and you just replace the electric one with the crown vic fan I think there are 2 fans on the crown vic vs 1 on the D or the fan is just angled better than the D.

RE: not much luck
I went and looked at the opening of the radiator shroud and it looks tight to shove 2 fans side by side? Unless they are mounted from the front instead of the back of the radiator. The OEM electric fan I see mounted on the radiator is pretty darn big. encompasses more than 80 percent of the radiator surface.
Today, been idling alot around town with temps about 100-102 degrees, first time I saw my temp gauge went over the 210 mark. Judging by its position, I think I was running around 220 and that is the hottest this rig ever ran. Hope I don't have a failing pump or a radiator starting to clog. Been flushing my system annually. |
RE: not much luck
Well Ken like I said I'm not 100% on this as I've never looked under the hood of a crown vic but I have seen it around on the forums here about the upgrade I guess I'll have to look for it to see exactly what the people said that did the upgrade.
