Can't push front calipers back? 96 Intrepid
First off: I'm not the biggest car guy on earth, so correct and forgive me for using the wrong terminology.
Now that thats taken care of, I'm installing front brake pads for the first time and can't get it right. My roommates and I got the pads, right size too, old ones off without a problem. But the new ones won't fit. My uncle suggested pushing the caliper back but we can't figure out how. We took the piston (I think that's what it's called) off both and tried pushing them like he suggested. We couldn't for almost a solid hour. So I'm asking here. Any advice for a non car person?
And I would get it done professionally BUT I have no money for that. I'm broke. And I was forced to help my uncle with the backs, so I figured I'll be fine. I know now that that wasn't the brightest idea I ever had, but I kinda can't back out now.
